Way too early Sabres roster projection

NHL training camps are right around the corner and with a new regime, it’s interesting to think about the Sabres roster.

The Sabres will have a lot of competition in terms of the bottom six and part of the blue line.

Too early for a roster projection? Never, here’s what I’m thinking.

Teams must have at least 20 players on the roster, they can have no more than 23.

Center: Jack Eichel, Ryan O’Reilly, Sam Reinhart, Johan Larsson, Jacob Josefson

Thoughts: Josefson should be 4th line, but I could also see him in Rochester.

Forwards: Evander Kane, Kyle Okposo, Jason Pominville, Benoit Pouliot, Matt Moulson, Zemgus Girgensons, Justin Bailey, Nick Baptiste

Thoughts: Bailey and Baptiste will battle it out, along with other young players. I’m still strongly with the belief Evan Rodrigues and Hudson Fasching have a good shot as well. I don’t know what will happen with Nic Deslauriers.

Defense: Rasmus Ristolainen, Jake McCabe, Marco Scandella, Nathan Beaulieu, Victor Antipin, Zach Bogosian, Josh Gorges

Thoughts: Much stronger than last season. I think Faulk and Fedun in Rochester and fill in for injuries. They did a strong job in that last season. Gorges here as a 7th, also 4 million reasons why.

Goalies: Robin Lehner, Chad Johnson
