The Buffalo Sabres take on the New Jersey Devils at Key Bank Center for a 3pm faceoff.

Buffalo has lost their first two games of the season. A shootout loss to Montreal and a bad game Saturday night in Brooklyn.

Chad Johnson starts in net this afternoon, he’s back in Buffalo after a season spent in Calgary.

Phil Housley: “We looked  at the schedule and wanted to get him a game early, right away, the plan was not to have Robin pulled so early in the second period. But we felt Chad had a good outing and he’s going to get the start today for us.”

It will be the same lineup as Saturday night so that means the scratches are the same, Jordan Nolan and Josh Gorges.

Buffalo’s big guns of Ryan O’Reilly and Kyle Okposo need to step up their game. I know we’re only two games in, but they’re combined a -8 and 1 point.

For the Devils, they are a new look, young team. Here’s what their lines look like:

Hall-Zacha-Bratt

Johansson-Hischier-Hayes

Gibbons-Henrique-Noesen

Wood-Coleman

Kyle Palmieri and former Sabre Drew Stafford both have lower body injuries and will not play.

The Devils are going with seven defensemen.
