Stock up, stock down in Sabres OT loss in Vegas

The Buffalo Sabres came back in the third period down 4-1, tied it, but lost in overtime.

Buffalo is now 1-4-2 on the season.

Stock down

First two periods

Yes, Buffalo got to a good start, a 1-0 lead. Then they stopped being aggressive and starting allowing odd man rushes. A lot of time was spent in the Buffalo zone.

Penalties

A man reason for the three goal deficit. Stupid penalties because of laziness, guys took shifts off. Not all penalties were bad, some were questionable.

Defense

Rasmus Ristolanien has a brutal turnover. Tennyson had bad shifts. There were times where I wondered what Jake McCabe was doing. It’s time too get Antipin back in the lineup. It’s been long enough, give him another shot.

Stock up

Comeback

This team turned on the Jets and went on a full court press on the Knights. Good shifts, pucks to net, players not taking shifts off. It was a good period in the third. Need to build off that.

Power play

3 for 5 is a step in the right direction. Nice passing, getting bodies in front of the net. We know they can have a good power play outing, consistency is key now.

Ryan O’Reilly

Best game by far this season. Not just because of the two goals, he was all over defensively, crisper passes. The Sabres need more nights like this out of him.
