Through the first 14 games of this season for the Buffalo Sabres, the team has seen 10 different defensemen crack the lineup.

They had 12 all of last season.

Factors contributing to this are injuries, benching and call ups.

Rasmus Ristolainen has played 13 games and has been dealing with an upper body injury.

Nathan Beaulieu played in the first 8 games and has missed The last six games with an upper body injury.

Marco Scandella has played in all 14 games and has 3 points.

Jake McCabe has played in all 14 games and has 3 points. His play has been up and down all season.

Victor Antipin has played in 10 games this season. He has one assist. Antipin was benched early in the western road trip. Housley had tried him on the power play.

Matt Tennyson has played in all 14 games and has no points. He is the fans least favorite player. Tennyson made the team out of training camp and has played in a lot of situations.

Josh Gorges is suffering an upper body injury and has been out. He played in the west coast trip for Antipin.

Justin Falk has just came back from a lower body injury.

Taylor Fedun has played in 3 games, fans have been calling for him to play when he was a scratch.

Zach Redmond has played in a couple games since being traded here at the start of the season.

Zach Bogosian hasn’t played at all this season wit a lower body injury. He has been upgraded- day to day.

In my opinion, this is a major reason why the Sabres look in limbo for defense. It’s a revolving door, players coming in and out of lineups, different players practicing. A lot of these defensemen are AHL type.

It’s been a challenge and unless everyone gets healthy, that door will keep revolving.
