The New England Patriots will be without one of their top running backs until the start of the postseason.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network tweeted this out just a short while ago:

“#Patriots RB Rex Burkhead was diagnosed with just a knee sprain after his MRI, source said. The team is optimistic their versatile weapon will be back for the playoffs. Good news, especially considering what it originally looked like.”

If that’s the case, he will miss this Sunday’s game against the Bills.

Does this mean former Bill Mike Gillislee will play against his former team? He’s been a greatly scratch and hasn’t played since October 29th.

Burkhead had 78 yards rushing and 2 TDs, along with 3 receptions for 25 yards in the first meeting a few weeks ago in Buffalo.
