With the Sabres listening to every player besides the name of Jack Eichel, you have to wonder what teams are calling.
Of course, Evander Kane, Sam Reinhart, Benoit Pouliot, possibly Robin Lehner?
But what about Josh Gorges? Could the Sabres actually get a partner for the defenseman?
ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski wrote a buyers guide on the trade deadline. He has a set of 5 tiers, and there are a couple of Sabres, including Gorges, who is on tier 4.
Gorges would seem like an obvious rental from the “everything not named Jack Eichel must go” Sabres, but his 15-team no-trade clause makes that trickier.
The Sabres would have to take some salary, but I think a contending team would take a flyer for Gorges and give a 3rd round pick or so. Botterill, you think would try and kick the tires to see if there’s a buyer.
Gorges is in his 4th year with the Sabres and has played 20 games this season.
You can see the other Sabres on here as well:
