With the NHL trade deadline just six days away, the Buffalo Sabres are looking to get some assets for upcoming unrestricted free agents.
But what could Jason Botterill receive back in trades? I don’t think the Sabres will be involved in many as I originally thought, what needs to be done to fix this team is all offseason work.
Evander Kane
The Sabres will get a 1st round pick as the main piece back. A team that thinks they are one player away from being a legitimate cup team will give up a 1st to acquire Kane. How many other pieces that come back will determine on the market, so possibly a prospect or another pick. Reports a month ago had the Sabres wanting four pieces, but realistically, I see 2-3.
Benoit Pouliot
He’s a cheap cap hit for any team and also a unrestricted free agent at seasons end. The most the Sabres will get back is a mid round draft pick, unless he’s apart of a bigger trade.
Josh Gorges
Darren Dreger reported that it’s more likely that Gorges will be traded by the deadline for a mid round pick. He added a mid round pick coming back to Buffalo.
Robin Lehner
While it seems unlikely he will be dealt, you just never know with trades once a partner comes into play. A goalie trade happened last night as the Flyers gave two conditional picks to Detroit for Petr Mrazek. Could the Sabres get more? The same?
