Sabres willing to lower asking price on Evander Kane

TSN Insider Darren Dreger talked about the Buffalo Sabres and Evander Kane on “Insider Trading.”

Dreger said there’s developing interest in Evander Kane. He added that there is a willingness by Jason Botterill to loosen things up in terms of what he wants in return.

If it’s not a 1st round pick, it will be a 2nd and a higher prospect.

Why is that? Here are some thoughts:

  1. Nash and Grabner among others are available at a cheaper cap hit. There are more sellers than buyers.
  2. Teams are not willing anymore to give up a 1st for a rental, even if it means improving the team for the short term. I could be wrong when I said the Sabres would definitely get a 1st for Kane.
  3. Things happen very quick. There’s plenty of time until the deadline Monday. Teams get desperate to make moves.
