The Buffalo Bisons defeated the Pawtucket Redsox by a score of 4-3 in 12 innings at McCoy Field.
For the first time since 2005, the herd win opening day on the road.
Here are some highlights of the game:
Jansen hits 4-4: Top catching prospect Danny Jansen starts 2018 hot. Hitting 4-4, including a home run in the 6th off Buttrey.
Nice start for Biagini: A nice start for the opening night starter. In five innings, Biagini gave up 2 hits, 1 walk, struck out 4 and 1 unearned run. He was in command for most of the night, slider and fastball were key on 2 strike counts.
Hernandez off and running: we know Dwight Smith is the base stealer on this team, but Teoscar Hernandez started off 2018 with two steals, both in the 1st inning.
Team total 20 strikeouts: Not what they wanted to start off offensively, but the Bisons did have three straight games that was postponed. I don’t see this as a problem moving forward.
Lopes on the clutch: Top12th, Lopes hits a sharp grounder to second that gets thru and scores Leblebijian. That’s something that hurt this team last season, runners in scoring position late in games and failing to get them home. Not tonight. Good start for Lopes.
The Bisons play the RedSox tomorrow, first pitch set for 6:15 at McCoy Field.
