Recap: Bisons held in check for first loss

The Pawtucket Red Sox defeated the Buffalo Bisons by a score of 3-1 today at McCoy Stadium.

Buffalo’s first loss of the season has them looking at what they can do better offensively.

Bisons offense: Second straight game where Sox pitching struck out double digit Bison hitters (10.) Danny Espinosa in the two spot held without a hit again.

Bisons were 1-11 with runners in scoring position

Credit Pawtucket’s pitching: Cuevas-Jerez-Elias combined for 4 hits, 3 walks and 1 run.

Tim Lopes: Best hitter of the night for Buffalo. A hit up the middle in the 9th was good for the lone run for the Herd. Lopes was 2-3, that RBI hit and a walk.

Borucki’s tough inning: Things were going well for Borucki until the bottom of the 5th. He had trouble getting the third out when Sam Travis singled up the middle that put the Sox up 2-0. Borucki went 5 innings, gave up 6 hits, 2 earned and struck-out 3 batters.

Guerrieri’s debut: Taylor Guerrieri made his Bisons debut out of the bullpen. He went 2 innings and gave up 3 hits, 1 earned and 2 strikeouts.

The Bisons try to win the series tomorrow in Pawtucket. First pitch is at 12:05- McCoy Stadium.
