Mock Draft 1.0

By Brandon J. Koch

Hello all.

I used to be a mock junkie, but I’ve learned over the years to just wait until the final couple days until the draft. Between this mock and Thursday, I will do one final mock.

Here’s the first.

Remember, mock drafts are for conversational purposes. I tired to combine what teams actually will do and what I think they should do. I only put in one trade, obviously I think there will be more, but it’s hard to figure out what trades will happen when you don’t know which teams are talking to each other.

Without anymore interruptions…here you go!

1. Cleveland Browns- Josh Allen: QB, Wyoming
While I think this will be a bad mistake for Cleveland, Allen needs time. Since Tyrod is the starter, he will develop.

2. New York Giants- Saquan Barkley: RB, Penn State
The Giants still think they can compete for a superbowl, so Barkley is their choice. Although, with Darnold on the board, it could get interesting.

3. New York Jets from Colts- Baker Mayfield: QB, Oklahoma
New York gets their franchise guy, my best quarterback in this class.

4. Cleveland Browns- Bradley Chubb: DE NCST
Chubb and Garrett? Nice, young duo on the ends of the defensive line for the dawg pound.

5. Buffalo Bills from DEN- Sam Darnold: QB, USC
TRADE! Beane deals with Elway, Buffalo selects their franchise quarterback. While I would be okay with this pick, the Bills have a future. I have Darnold ranked as my 3-4 QB. I believe he’s number one on Beane and company’s big board. Darnold screams process and what McDermott preaches. Q

6. Indianapolis Colts- Roquan Smith: linebacker, Georgia

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Derwin James: Safety, Florida State
Easy pick for Tampa, fills need.

8. Chicago Bears- Quenton Nelson: OT, Notre Dame
Bears fans should be thrilled getting Nelson at 8.

9. San Francisco 49ers- Denzel Ward: CB, Ohio St.
I was thinking about wide receiver at this pick, but San Francisco needs to get better in the secondary.

10. Oakland Raiders- Minkah Fitzpatrick: DB, Alabama
Can play corner and safety. Gruden grinder?

11. Miami Dolphins- Tremaine Edmunds: LB, Virginia Tech
12. Denver Broncos from BUF- Leighton Vander Esch: LB, Boise
13. Washington Redskins- Vita Vea: DT, Washington
14. Green Bay Packers- Calvin Ridley: WR, Alabame
15. Arizona Cardinals- Josh Rosen: QB, UCLA
16. Baltimore Ravens- James Daniels: C, Iowa
17. Los Angeles Chargers- Lamar Jackson: QB, Louisville
18. Seattle Seahawks- Orlando Brown: OT, Oklahoma
19. Dallas Cowboys- Rashaan Evans: LB, Alabama
20. Detroit Lions- Taven Bryan: DL, Florida
21. Cincinnati Bengals from Buffalo Bills- Isaiah Wynn: G, Georgia
22. Denver Broncos from Buffalo Bills- Will Hernandez: OL, UTEP
23. New England Patriots from Los Angeles Rams- Da’ron Payne: DT, Alabama
24. Carolina Panthers- Josh Jackson: CB, Iowa
25. Tennessee Titans- DJ Moore: WR, Maryland
26. Atlanta Falcons- Christian Kirk: WR, Texas A&M
27. New Orleans Saints- Mason Rudolph: QB OKST
28. Pittsburgh Steelers- Justin Reid: S, Stanford
29. Jacksonville Jaguars- Cortland Sutton: WR, SMU
30. Minnesota Vikings- Jaire Alexander: CB, Louisville
31. New England Patriots- Mike McGlinchey: OL, Norte Dame
32. Philadelphia Eagles- Sony Michel: RB, Georgia
