Bisons walk-off win over Chiefs

By Brandon J. Koch

The Buffalo Bisons defeated the Syracuse Chiefs by a score of 4-3 tonight in 10 innings at Coca-Cola field. This was Buffalo’s first walkoff of the season.

Here are some highlights of the game:

Jansen’s night: Danny Jansen had a big night for the Bisons. The catcher went 3-4 with an RBI and a walk and delivered the game winning hit in the 10th. Jansen continues being the herd’s best hitter.

Deck McGuire: A nice night for the Her’s starting pitcher. McGuire went 8 strong giving up 6 hits, 2 earned, 1 walk and 7 strikeouts that included 5 straight. He was stronger as the game went on. The Bisons bullpen needed this kind of outing from their starter.

No running on Roemon: What a night for the Bisons center fielder. Fields threw out Chiefs shortstop Bengie Gonzalez twice. Once in at 2nd when Gonzalez was stretching a base-hit, then at home plate in the 6th. A game changer, preserving runs for the herd.

Middle of order struggles: Rowdy Tellez and his 8 game hit streak is over, he went 0-4. Anthony Alford went 0-4 with a runs scored and Reese McGguire went 0-4 as his struggles continue.
