Happy legal tampering day, Bills fans. The tampering period window opens at 12:00 p.m.
The new league year doesn’t begin until Wednesday, but a lot of deals can be agreed to as early as this afternoon.
Who are some players the Bills should be interested in signing? Here’s my take:
Offensive tackle Daryl Williams: I wouldn’t be surprised if Williams was the first signing for the Bills this free agency. Buffalo is in dire need of offensive line help and Williams fits their mold. According to PFF, Williams is in the high quality tier, solid in both pass and run blocking. Spotrac has a market value of $7.8 millon per year.
Center Matt Paradis: Besides wide receiver, is center the next position that is need of a major upgrade? Sean McDermott and Brandon have spoken about how important center is to this team. Many have said Russell Bodine wasn’t that bad last season, but the Bills could use someone better. Even coming off a broken leg, Paradis will bring value to a Bills offensive line. PFF has given Paradis a three year grade of 87.1. The question is, how much is Beane willing to bid on him? There should be many teams interested. Spotrac has a market value of $10.8 million per year.
Guard Roger Saffold: He’s been with the Rams franchise for his whole career, but money talks. Saffold is one of the best and should end up as being the highest paid guard in the league. PFF had a 72.8 run blocking grade, which ranked fourth out of 88. “Saffold held his own when pass-blocking as well, as he allowed only 25 total pressures (17 hurries, five hits, three sacks) on 608 pass-blocking snaps.”
Linebacker Anthony Barr: With Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano, adding Barr would be an exciting trio. The Bills have no money invested at linebacker, so what kind of dollars would Barr command?
Tight end Jessie James: I wouldn’t expect him to be a starter, but a low-risk, high-reward signing. James could serve as a one-two punch at tight end, if you expect them to draft one as well.
Wide receiver Jamison Crowder: I think this is a underrated speedster. The Bills can sign and plug him into the slot and be that go-to safety blanket for Josh Allen.
