The Buffalo Sabres are closing in on making Todd McLellan as head coach, with an announcement as early as tomorrow, Ed Duhatschek of the Athletic reports.
I'm hearing that Todd McLellan is closing in on an agreement to replace Phil Housley as the next coach of the Buffalo Sabres and that an announcement could come as early as tomorrow.

Now, just recently, John Wawrow of the AP is reporting that McLellan is on the Sabres radar, but doesn’t see a deal by Tuesday.
UPDATE from Bob McKenzie of TSN:
In reference to my pal Eric’s report, here’s my understanding of the situation: Todd McLellan is a leading candidate if not THE leading candidate to replace Phil Housley as BUF HC. McLellan has also been in negotiation with LA and the Kings appear to remain in the mix. https://t.co/ZengSbqUR5

I don’t believe a contract has been negotiated between McLellan and BUF but that isn’t to say it couldn’t happen in day(s) to come. As fate would have it, McLellan was scheduled to be in BUF this week anyway for @NCAAIceHockey Frozen Four. Todd’s son Tyson plays for @DU_Hockey.
