Draft night: Don’t be surprised if Christian Wilkins is a Bill

Happy draft night, everyone!

After months and months of debates, opinions and mock drafts, it’s all finally here.

The best part about draft season is that everybody has an opinion on what their team should do, especially in the first round.

Based on what I think will happen in picks 1-8, here’s the next core piece the Bills will be adding tonight.

Remember, everyone has their opinions. This is just for fun. I’m not in the draft room, I don’t know Beane’s board. It’s just who I think will be the best player available for the Bills.

Former Clemson defensive tackle Christian Wilkins fits what the Bills are looking for in their search to replace Kyle Williams.

Fits the McBeane formula:

Wilkins received the William V. Campbell trophy, given to the college football player with the best combination of academics, community service, and on-field performance.

Wilkins finished his Masters degree in 3.5 years! He’s a very intelligent individual.

That is music to Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane’s ears.

Versatility

He can do it all. McDermott can line him up anywhere. Wilkins is one on the most athletic 300 pounders you will see. He uses his hands quickly with the combination of first step quickness and size.

Wilkins can play one-tech, which isn’t needed because that’s Star Lotulelei’s job.

He will mainly be brought in to play along side Star at three-tech, which is the tackle lining up on the outside shoulder of the guard.

Wilkins will use his balance of power, speed and IQ to rush the passer and disrupt run schemes with pulling guards or fullbacks.

Yes, I love Ed Oliver, many people do. I can’t see him falling to the Bills.

Wilkins I think will be just as good.
