The Buffalo Bills improve to 4-2 on the season with a 30-27 win over the Tamp Bay Buccaneers at New Era Field.

It was a game of ups and downs, so here’s stock up and stock down:

Stock up

Defense comes up big

The Bills defense gave up the 4th quarter drive in which Winston threw a touchdown pass to Mike Evans. Thier next time on the field, they created the turnover to help win the game. This defense continues to create turnovers with three on the day.

Deonte Thompson

The newly signed wide receiver came up big in this one and helped the offense all day. Thompson had 4 catches for 107 yards and a big 44 yard catch on a drive to tie the game in the 4th.

Tyrod leading the way

Horray! A nice drive to tie the game led by Tyrod Taylor. Nice throw to Thompson, using his legs. Just something we haven’t seen and be used to. Also protecting the football after the defense took the ball away.

Running game back on track

I’m still skeptical on the run game going forward, but it was good today. McCoy had some nice runs and finished with 91 yards. Mike Tolbert had 29 yards on only 3 carries, but it was a nice mix. How about Taiwan Jones? His one carry on a third down was HUGE. Let’s see if the run game can follow this up.

Stock down

End of half fiasco

Something that got me fired up was how incompetent the Bills were at the end of the half. Taylor didn’t have to throw to Matthews in the flat. Just throw it away and take the field goal. They should went to the end zone instead.

Giving up long drives

I’m giving the defense a break, they played well, but they need to improve on giving up long drives. The Bucs had a number of long drives in this game, especially in the four quarter that drilled time on the clock. You can even go back to Cincinnati where the Bengals had long drives. Facing Carr and that offense next week, Frazier and company need to figure this out.

Wide open Howard touchdown

It looked like one of those sneak routes and it was effective. A nice play call by the Bucs offense. Just not a good fundamental play by the defense.
