More outsiders continue Josh Allen narrative

Aaron Schatz, head of Football Outsiders was on WGR this afternoon talking about Josh Allen. If you paid attention to Schatz’s appearances on the station, he’s not the biggest Allen fan.

He continued today:

“I am not a Josh Allen believer. I just think the accuracy is not there. One thing we did see is scrambling. It’s a bonus absolutely, but sometimes you have to stand in the pocket. And he’s just not accurate.”

There are plenty of signs of growth from Josh Allen as a pocket passer, and in accuracy.

  1. Pocket pass- step up bomb throw Robert Foster. One of the throws of the year? First game back off the injury and one that started a couple of encouraging outings.
  2. The Detroit game. Matt Patricia and his staff wanted to make Allen a pocket passer. Allen did exactly that. If you go to cover1.net you’ll be able to see that.
  1. How about the laser strikes to Zay Jones in Miami against the Dolphins? One of his best games of the season. Stepping up and throwing bullets.

Of course everyone has their opinions, but not acknowledging the steps that Allen took since coming back a UCL injury is not painting a good picture.

Schatz obviously is good at what he does and is great with numbers, but it’s not everything, especially with accuracy.
